The night does not hide.
Pierre Soulage recounts how, as a child, he used to draw snow by making black dots on a white sheet of paper… The blackness of the dot revealed the whiteness of the page. The blackness of the dot revealed the whiteness of the page. The nocturnal space unfolds our attention and reveals our diurnal impatience to see things there, immediately visible and comprehensible. Seeing at night and becoming an owl would be like piercing a surface, with the hole revealing space as unexpected matter. A je-ne-sais-quoi of colors, shapes, materials and sounds, an invitation to search, to grasp, to melt, to cross and to transform. In the conflict of sensations that night offers, we see the possibility of recomposing images from a melted, confused and multiple impression: those of a world that escapes us and impresses us. The stage, in a deceptive opacity, slips away and sometimes seems to destroy itself. Bodies and dance have become owls. This night is an explosion, dematerializing our fears and projecting them into the distance. In so doing, it dissolves them, allowing us to enter a world from which anything seems possible. Because night doesn’t hide, it reveals…
