His father was a coal miner, and his body is the bearer of know-how, marked by the repetitiveness of movement.<\/h3>\n<p><em>Empty Picture<\/em> &#8216;s challenge was to pass on this memory of the worker&#8217;s gesture, and turn it into a choreography akin to a liberating trance. Alexandre Roccoli conducted a series of interviews with miners and workers, then worked with krump dancers to sediment this working-class gesture in the dancers&#8217; bodies.
